Front Street hoarding work starts August 28 at 158 Front St. E.

As we noted in our last week’s weekend update, work to rebuild the Front Street East hoardings and add 3 access points will is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 28.

The hoarding will be taken down and reconstructed over the coming days. Three (3) new access gated will be added along Front Street and there will be no parking permitted (see below). These gates will be used for deliveries. Concrete trucks will continue to access the site from Frederick Street.

As construction of the second floor progresses on the east (Sherbourne Street) side of the site, the existing gate access on Sherbourne Street will be phased out.

During the work there will be some periods when, for safety reasons, pedestrians will not be able to use the north side of Front Street between Sherbourne and Frederick. Construction staff will be on site to assist in managing traffic and pedestrian access on the north side of Front Street. Paid Duty officers will be on site as may be required.

A note on Parking

There will be no longer be parking on the north side of Front Street East between Sherbourne and Frederick for the duration of construction. The Toronto Parking Authority removed the pay & display parking meter last week. We note that since construction began the site owners have actually been paying for the spaces along this section of Front Street East and technically the parking should have been removed at the outset of construction. However as it was not needed, it was left in place till now.
