May 7 – 11: Excavation and Tieback Installation at 158 Front St. E

This week, May 7 through 11, the focus of work at 158 Front Street East will be excavation. If sufficient progress is made tiebacks* installation may commence.  Tiebacks are horizontal rods which are used to reinforce retaining walls to provide additional stability (click here for more information).

As we noted last week, later this spring the full lane occupation on Frederick Street will be completed. This will include a minimum of 1.5 metres of pedestrian space. We will post the timing for this once we have confirmed information. During construction general sidewalk maintenance is ongoing. Any sidewalk areas that require patching will be cold patched. This involves using cold-patch asphalt a safe, environmentally-friendly, ready to use recycled product.

As a reminder, work that causes construction noise may occur between 7 am to 7 pm Monday to Friday. If work is required on Saturdays, it may occur between 9 am to 7 pm. For more information on construction noise and work hours please click here.
